Quick Eligibility Check

Answer a few questions to see whether you may be a good candidate to apply. This is not a final decision.

1. Are you a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident?

2. Do you live or work in East or Central Pasco County?

3. If approved, will you live in the Habitat home full time as your main home?

4. How many people will live in the home, and what is your total household income (before taxes)? ? What is AMI?

AMI means “Area Median Income.” HUD uses it to set local income guidelines. We compare your household size and income to these guidelines to estimate eligibility.

Include income from everyone who will live in the home. If you need help estimating, use the income calculator.

5. Have you had steady income for the past two years, and do you feel able to make a monthly house payment?

6. Are you willing to complete the steps required to complete the program (paperwork, meetings, and education)?

7. Are you willing and able to complete the required volunteer hours (“sweat equity”)? ? What is sweat equity?

Homebuyers partner with Habitat throughout the process. This partnership includes “sweat equity,” such as helping to build their own home or the homes of others in our program.

Sweat equity can also include taking homeownership classes or volunteer work in a Habitat ReStore.

Once selected, homebuyer partners typically complete up to 400 hours over the course of the program.
